 A Legacy of Giving

The British Community in Thailand Foundation for the Needy (BCTFN) carries a proud tradition of giving that dates back over 80 years. What began in 1941 with informal fundraising gatherings at the British Club has grown into one of Thailand’s most beloved and impactful charity events: the Ploenchit Fair.

The Fair was first held in 1957, following a proposal by the wife of the British Ambassador. Hosted on the grounds of the British Embassy in Bangkok, it quickly became a fixture of the social calendar and a powerful force for good. The name “Ploenchit Fair” pays tribute to these early days.

In 1999, BCTFN became an officially recognised foundation under the Ministry of Interior, enabling us to expand our reach and deepen our support for healthcare, education, and grassroots development throughout Thailand.

The Ploenchit Fair remains the cornerstone of our fundraising efforts. Thanks to the enduring support of sponsors, donors, and volunteers, BCTFN has channelled millions of baht into community-based projects that promote self-reliance and long-term change. Every baht raised is carefully allocated to charities with a proven impact, and we remain closely involved in advising and monitoring their progress.

As we look to the future, our mission remains clear: to continue delivering meaningful support to those most in need—and to invite like-minded partners to join us in making a lasting difference.
