The Ploenchit Fair
About BCTFN
The British Community in Thailand Foundation for the Needy (BCTFN) is a charitable foundation supporting vulnerable communities and individuals throughout Thailand.
Operating under the auspices of the British Embassy in Bangkok, BCTFN works with trusted charitable organisations and local community partners to support projects that improve health, welfare, education and community wellbeing.
The Foundation’s approach focuses on practical support, sustainable impact and long-term community benefit.
Our History
BCTFN’s roots can be traced back to charitable fundraising activities within the British community in Thailand during the 1950s.
In 1957, the British community organised the first Ploenchit Fair within the grounds of the British Embassy on Ploenchit Road in Bangkok. Over time, the Fair grew into one of the best-known community fundraising events in Thailand.
BCTFN was formally established as a foundation in 1998 and continues to work closely with the British community, volunteers, charitable organisations and supporters across Thailand.
Today, the Ploenchit Fair remains at the heart of the Foundation’s fundraising activities and community engagement.
