Technical College Project

School: Nakhon Sawan Technical College
Date of project
: August 2007
Project: One-day visit to AIDS Hospice, Lopburi
Purpose: To give teenage college students a greater understanding of the risks and dangers of unprotected sex and to encourage greater understanding towards AIDS sufferers
Number of students: 100
Cost: 10,000 Baht

The annual SET visit to an AIDS Hospice in Lopburi is always a sobering event for our technical college students – all of them boys in their late teens or early twenties. The hospice uses both technical and dramatic forms of presentation to get its message across to visitors. It’s a formula that seems to work. When questioned afterwards, the students seem to understand much more about AIDS than most boys of their age. After meeting patients at the hospice, they also develop a more sympathetic attitude towards those with the disease.
